A single guest-room specification written once and delivered across eleven properties without it going grey in the process.

The brief

  • Group design standard
  • Prototype room and sign-off process
  • Regional maker sourcing
  • Rollout supervision across eleven sites

The operator needed consistency at group level and difference at property level. We wrote a kit of parts: fixed elements everywhere, a local variable in each city.

The variable was usually textile and art, chosen from makers within fifty miles of each hotel.
